There’s an article about a teacher that fed a puppy to a snapping turtle and damn near all the comments are shoulder shrugs and “nature gonna nature”.

Why pay extra for a puppy when you can buy frozen feeder rats, or feed off one of the students.

Somewhat related... In my quest to find two kittens, I stumbled a woman who refused to sell to men, because she assumed that all men want kittens for us to feed to snakes.

Snapping turtles are awesome animals but their eating habits are pretty brutal. But the same applies to many animals. Many dogs do eat live mice if they have a change to do so. It does not look so brutal as no blood and guts can be seen but it’s probably a very horrible way to die.
I don’t see much difference between puppies, mice, regular dogs, vipers, rats, chickens, herrings, cows and pigs. I don’t want to be a cause for any animal needlessly to die. That’s why I have been vegetarian for nearly 10 years. Of course some animals need to eat other animals and this cannot be avoided but feeding live animals to the others seems excessively cruel (I’m not sure if this was the case with the poor puppy or not). But I don’t want any animal to die just to be a part of my dinner. If I would have (an awesome) snapping turtle it would be mostly getting road kill.
I find it really strange when my friends are happily eating some random cow part while discussing how cute their dogs are. Be cute or be worthless outside the menu? A puppy is an animal but so is a cow.

Given his choices, this is very upsetting. Possible serial killer. I don’t care about a lot of animals but I unconditionally love all puppies.
